I was lucky enough to turn 18 right before a presidential election, and so my first voting experience was an exciting year. Unfortunately, it was also the year Reagan won by a landslide. I remember waiting in line with my mom to vote in a church near our house, and feeling very proud and adult. Then we went home and I took a bath while listening to the election returns. It was depressing, especially as I remember that year a lot of people on the West Coast didn't even bother to vote because it was such an overwhelming victory for RR. Still, I'd done my part, and was happy to have been able to.
